Lareau Jewelry Academy in Lakewood is looking for new fabulous team members to join our already fabulous team! LJA owners, Viki & Mark Lareau opened Tacoma's first bead store, The Bead Factory in 1992. The Bead Factory became Tacoma's best source for high quality beads, tools, jewelry making supplies and excellent jewelry making workshops, and remained so for 22 years! The Lareau Jewelry Academy is the evolution of our bead store, the next step in creating a space for contemporary jewelry making for beginners or professionals. LJA is a new company but the core values from The Bead Factory continue at LJA.

 

We will always be dedicated to excellent customer service, and delivering the highest quality of product. Now more than ever we are committed to an outstanding workshop experience for all of our students at any level. 

Our vision is to continue to educate & inspire and ignite that passion for creating contemporary jewelry!

 

The team members we bring into this vision must also be committed to this goal. We do not require any experience in jewelry making. We train completely with tried & true methods we know enable the student to discover their own artistic talents and to grow them organically.

 

Of course there are some special qualities we need. Our team members are outgoing, love working with the public, have positive "can-do" attitudes and work with a sense of urgency. They are professional, articulate, and fashionable. They are also extremely patient and encouraging to others. We only hire kind souls, who love life, and bring their authentic joyous energy with them everyday. Plus be able to look fabulous everyday!

 

We also need an extremely flexible schedule, available all hours, all days - no exceptions. We do not hire smokers, or those with large visable tattoos, ear gauges, visable piercings beyond ears and we do drug test. We need our team to be able to wear all jewelry - necklaces, earrings & bracelets with out distractions of tattoos, piercings, etc.. and with out metal allergies.  Any of these factors extremely limit the amount of jewelry that can be worn which effects promotion for the company.

 

On a daily basis our team will tend to every customer's need, clean & stock merchandise, demo product, and assist our customers with anything they need. They do not make jewelry unless asked to do so. Appearance must be clean & professional at all times, requiring current hairstyles & makeup ( but not un natural)  We have dress codes requiring our team to dress on trend and wear a lot of fashion jewelry ( from our store of course!) While we don't require you have previous jewelry making experience, we do expect you to develop your jewelry making skills over time and this to become something you love to do! Those who never seem to catch the " jewelry bug" don't thrive with us in the long term, so being naturally creative is a plus.

 

We have a progressive pay schedule and generous discount program that includes free classes as well as paid training all throughout your entire career with us. We are looking for permanent full time, and for a commitment of least 2 years. You must be able to drive and have reliable transportation.
